Born in Dalian in the Liaoning Province, China in 1970. Studed at the Institute of Fine Art In Luxin. Has exhibitedsince 1995 in China, Japan, U.S.A. and Paris. If grace had a name it would be Wang Jun Ying, who lives in China. The young woman is not satified with a delicate, wonderfully exotic appearance: she has chosen to paint in a country where her peers are not very tempted by this activity. Her obstinacy, her strong personality became her tools. By choosing prtraiture, she has reproduced a great deal of her own culture, as much through her figures'lifstyles, as through the diversity of their adornments: the Chinese scholar will easily identify the focused ethnic origins. However, Wang JunYing's paintings cannot be simply reduced to emblematic representation linked to her origins. It also recalls the evolution of portrait painting in art history and allows us to sketch out answers regarding the genre's survival. ERIC de LANGES
